Codee

A modular system of elements that combine effortlessly and enables children to imagine new characters.
Location
New York, NY

After toy companies license ideas from inventors, the work begins to create a product line from a single product...

Challenge

Improve and develop an acquired toy invention by overcoming constraints that limited the user experience

Solution

Developed an entire product line by developing thematic designs (nature, vehicles, sports, science fiction, and fantasy) and creating an system of modular elements (bodies, hands, wings, heads, wheels, etc) users could easily mix, and match, to enable easy character creation.

Impact

By doing more with less, the modular system enabled the toy company to reduce expenses by avoiding additional tooling costs while bringing the product to market. Following a debut of the designs at the New York Toy Fair, Codee was distributed by the national toy retailer Toys R Us.
